Day Habilitation
Beacon – New Jersey’s day habilitation programs provide education and training to help adults with disabilities improve upon current skills and develop new ones that will increase independent living skills and community integration. Activities include, but are not limited to the following skill development areas:
Social & Interpersonal: Provide individualized activities that give adults more opportunities to strengthen current friendships and to develop new ones.
Community Integration: Foster greater community awareness and understanding by visiting local stores and business establishments, restaurants, libraries, parks, and unique events including plays, dancing, painting, and musicals and concerts.
Activities of Daily Living: Self-care, health & wellness, meal planning and preparation, money management including understanding and creating a personal budget.
Communication: Improve communication skills through participation in individualized expressive and receptive language activities.
Augmentative Devices & Assistive Technology: Increase personal independence through the possible use augmentative and assistive technology
Our Day Habilitation programs also include more specialized services for individuals who require specific medical and/or behavioral support. The medical day program includes a nurse on-site during program hours. All our day programs offer Behaviorists on staff to assist with individualized behavior supports for people with challenging behaviors.
Medicaid pays for up to 30 hours per week for most people qualified with the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities. Self-pay options are also available.
