Caregivers provide 24-hour hands-on personal care to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness in a behavioral health care/adult foster care setting. You will provide supervision, take residents on outings, prepare meals, pass medications, and perform many other tasks to assist our residents in living the fullest possible life according to their goals and needs.

Individuals who progress through the LEAP program will gain access to professional enrichment, self-satisfaction, and the potential for increased compensation.
Level Up Your Career With LEAP
LEVEL 1: Policy and Procedure. This level focuses on the DSP’s understanding of company policies and procedures.
A DSP can advance to Level One after completing 90 days in the role as an entry-level DSP; completing an Employee Development Department training documentation review to ensure all onboarding requirements have been met; complete all activities outlined in the DSP study guide prior to applying; and pass the assessment on basic knowledge of BSLS policies and procedures and medication administration.
LEVEL 2: Becoming a Champion. This level focuses on the DSP’s understanding in supporting individuals with behaviors, autism, trauma, nutritional needs, and the Beacon Champions Advocacy Program.
A DSP can advance to Level Two after completing 3-months in the role as a Level One DSP; completing an Employee Development Department training documentation review to ensure all requirements from previous levels have been met; complete all activities outlined in the DSP study guide for Level Two prior to applying to LEAP and pass the assessment.
LEVEL 3: Excel in support. This level expands on the DSP’s understanding of planning the care of the individuals served, caring for mental and physical health concerns.
A DSP can advance to Level Three after completing 3-months in the role as a Level Two DSP; completing an Employee Development Department training documentation review to ensure all requirements from previous levels have been met; complete all activities outlined in the DSP study guide for Level Three prior to applying; and pass the assessment.
LEVEL 4: Mentorship. This level encourages the DSP to continue to grow in their knowledge of behaviors, problem solving, facilitating safety in the home and introduces them to managing a budget in the home. A Level 4 DSP also supports the onboarding and growth of other DSPs.
A DSP can advance to Level Four after completing 6-months in the role as a Level Three DSP; completing an Employee Development Department training documentation review to ensure all requirements from previous levels have been met; complete all activities outlined in the DSP study guide for Level Four prior to applying; and pass the assessment.
LEVEL 5: Leadership. This level focuses on being a Lead DSP and assisting the home manager with leadership responsibilities in the home.
A DSP can advance to Level Five after completing 6-months in role as a Level Four DSP; completing an Employee Development Department training documentation review to ensure all requirements from previous levels have been met; complete all activities outlined in the DSP study guide for Level Five prior to applying; and pass the assessment.
Lead DSP
A level five DSP may apply or be selected to advance to the role of Lead DSP. If the employee is promoted to the Lead position, they will receive advanced training from their operations teams to support them in their new role. A Lead DSP assists the care team manager in leadership responsibilities alongside the other level five DSPs in the home. The Lead DSP is also expected to serve directly as an assistant to the care team manager and may be asked to serve as an interim care team manager during periods of operational needs or absences.
